A quick update while I take a break from Javascript: our favorite open-source platform for creating rich-desktop applications is getting some Linux loving this month!
The september issue of Linux Journal, the original publication of the Linux community, is featuring an introductory guide to Appcelerator Titanium! This is awesome news for all of us who support Titanium, because we really want to get the word out to more developers, especially those involved in the open-source scene. And there’s no better place to get the word out than one of the oldest magazines that cater to open-source enthusiasts.

I do have to mention that the author of the article is very close to my heart, particularly because we’re the same person (yep, I wrote the article). Of course, I have to take some time to thank a few people who made this possible: Jeff and Nolan, the CEO and CTO (respectively) of Appcelerator, Inc. and all around awesome guys, who gave me the opportunity to write about the awesome platform; to Marshall and the rest of the Dev Team, who deserve a multitude of claps for making the whole thing possible; to Shelly and Craig of Page One PR, who have been there to give out feedback and help through the writing process; to the guys from the IRC, especially to Garrick, who gave me feedback for the earlier drafts of the article, and to Makkura, who graciously shared his time to capture some screenshots for the article; and of course, to everyone else who I forgot to name—I owe you all some claps, cheers and thanks.
So please, grab your copies of this month’s Linux Journal. The current issue is focused on cross-platform development, and aside from the article about Titanium, there are also great feature stories about Lazarus, Qt and a really nice interview with the devs of Google Chrome. If you’re a subscriber, the issue is already available at the Linux Journal website. If you prefer your magazine paperish, be sure to look out for an issue at your favorite newstand or magazine shop in the next few days.
Again, thanks to everyone and happy reading!
